Today marks a significant milestone in our journey to revolutionize how children experience the digital world. I'm thrilled to announce that AngelQ is now available on the Apple App Store, bringing our kid-first browser to families everywhere starting May 14, 2025.
Our children are not okay. As a father, I've witnessed firsthand the concerning reality of today's digital landscape. From the moment they pick up their first device, our kids are bombarded with content that was never designed with their wellbeing in mind. They face algorithms optimized for engagement at any cost, content that distorts their sense of self, and digital experiences that exploit rather than enrich.
The results speak for themselves: skyrocketing rates of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and self-harm among young people. Children as young as six and eight parroting harmful ideas absorbed online without the maturity to process them. Teenagers spend countless hours comparing themselves to filtered fantasies instead of forming real relationships and healthy identities.
The existing solutions have consistently fallen short. Parental controls that are complex to use and feel like punishment to children even when we are only trying to protect them. AI chatbots for kids that are becoming more addictive than TikTok and equally toxic. Browsers that open up an uncurated, adult centered world to all ages.
We built an online world that isn’t even healthy for adults most of the time, and one that is wholly unfit for children.
At AngelQ, we asked ourselves a simple but powerful question:
"What would the internet look like if we built it specifically for kids?"
Not as an adaptation of adult technology, but as something entirely new. Using the power of AI to reimagine the Internet specific to every child.
This led us to develop a revolutionary approach where:
When a child uses AngelQ to explore the internet, our technology adapts responses in three key ways:
This tiered approach ensures children can explore and learn independently within safe boundaries while keeping parents involved in more sensitive areas of their digital education.
We didn't build AngelQ to create another “engaging” app—we built it to invert the objective function of apps from engagement into wellness. Our goal is that AngelQ makes kids able to so easily engage with curiosity and get quality answers that they spend LESS TIME ON SCREENS and HIGHER QUALITY time when they do. Somewhere along the line, apps and technology became focused on selling your attention and not serving your needs. For our kids this is harmful and toxic. We offer AngelQ as a way to turn that around - not through denial but through redeeming these tech tools for the benefit of our children.
We're pioneering a future where:
As Joanna Drake from Magnify Ventures, one of our key investors, puts it: "What Tim and the AngelQ team have built addresses one of the most pressing concerns for today's parents. This isn't just innovative technology, it's a vital solution for families navigating the complex digital landscape. AngelQ represents the first browser truly built with kids as the primary user, not an afterthought."
I'm often asked if I'm optimistic about technology's impact on children. My answer is yes—if handled properly. The future of children's relationship with technology isn't predetermined; it's something we actively create through the choices we make today. The fate of our kids is what we make. It’s on us. But you are not alone. Help is here now. We can change this - together.
When you download AngelQ from the App Store on May 14th, you're not just getting a new browser; you're experiencing a healthier path forward for our kids in the digital world. You're joining a movement to create technology that respects childhood rather than exploits it.
It won't be easy. Reversing the toxic effects of the current digital landscape on kids' hearts and minds is an uphill battle against some of the most powerful forces in the modern world. But as a father, I know it's a fight we can't afford to lose.
Together, we can create a digital world where our children's wellbeing isn't compromised for the sake of corporate profits—a world where technology serves our highest values rather than commercial priorities.
We built AngelQ because our children deserve a better online world.
Together, let’s make it what it should have been all along.
